February Activity Check

Hello Joyers! It's time for AC again.

We have a new feature being added to AC this round in the form of a small report section in which we ask that you summarize and explain what your character has been doing (or will be doing!) in the current chapter. We will use this in order to shape the game plot via IC actions in the upcoming chapter. This is optional, but we're unlikely to incorporate an element that isn't directly reported to us. To add some incentive, we'll be providing 10 bonus points for filling out the summary and including relevant links in the report.

The full details of the AC system can be reviewed here but to save you some clicking time, here's the skinny:

Time Line

You will have until 11:59 PM (CST), March 2nd, to submit your AC. AC periods run during the last three days of the current month and the first two days of the next month, with strikes and sweeps completed on the third prior to apps opening. If you know you won't be able to submit AC ahead of time, you can have a friend submit it on your behalf, or contact the mods privately (here) to work out other arrangements. Failure to report AC without previous arrangements will result in an automatic strike.

Accrual

✗ New characters need to accrue 10 points to pass AC their first month.
✗ Established characters need to accrue 20 points.
✗ All points after accrual are converted into bonus points, or in game lingo, HP to spend on regains, pets, and etc!

Requirements

✗ At least half of the threads turned in for AC should be threads started for the month in question (for instance, during February).
✗ The other half can be threads started at any time (i.e., backtags).
✗ Top levels created with sub-levels (ex. Phase I, II, & III) count as one top level
✗ Bonus points can be gained from threads started at any time.
✗ Inbox and TDM threads can be turned in for bonus points only.

Chapter Summary: Killed an awful lot of rioters, bullets and carnage in the streets, oh my! Got himself knocked out :{ As for interaction within his faction...a good Dog who (mostly) does as he's told apart from that slip up at the riots where he ran amok and maybe...killed...one or two Company peeps without thinking during all the mayhem.

Chapter Summary:
With the fall of the Accords, Jack's fundamental motivation for striving to work so hard for the Company has been shaken more than a little. Considering so much of his work and ambition depended on the Accords, he felt like the rug had been pulled out from under him, and Hyperion stepped in to fill the gap. Offered a chance to resist, Jack took the offer and joined the organization, including joining a small team whose primary purpose was to murder the Leithians responsible for attacking the Bureau. It's given Jack a new purpose, since through Hyperion, he feels he might be able to snatch at the threads of power as the Company and the Quad fall into unrest out of uncertainty. Though he's not being overt about it just yet. From helping quell riots to making quiet appearances at the peace summit, Jack is still the model Company man on the surface.

And of course, he copes with this new reality by shitposting on the Meshwork. As you do. That's too many threads to link, but see like, the entirety of the inbox section...??

Chapter Summary:
Julius went about mostly on Company duty. He did some damage control at the riots, lost a dog, then attended some Leith galas as part of his Heir Obligations. He's going to be at the Peace Summit too, and has offered Sion to donate some of his stuff to Westerly people. He's also kind of dying.

Chapter Summary: leo didn't do much but check up on the people he knows (or have heard of ) in westerley. his workplace has also been hosting various charity events to help out, and he met some people like corrin, vaughn, and rhys there. kate also paid him a visit and he tried to trace angel but found fenris instead.

Chapter Summary:
Steinbeck's been a busy guy. After helping out the Resistance by transporting things out of Leith, he gradually recovered from the illness and continued on his merry rebel way (though not without running into someone from his past). With the fall of the Accords, especially, he was ever more determined to strike back, and luckily, the Resistance offered him an opportunity in the form of becoming a cell leader for Hyperion, though his group was a bit more questionable than not. Steinbeck mostly laid low during the riots, just ensuring that the people he cared about were safe.

In recent surprising news, he has taken a romantic step in his life by reaching out to Kate Bishop for a date. Time will tell if they'll be sweethearts or not (oh, who are we kidding, they're going to be gross in the sweetest way).

Chapter Summary: Lavi had a busy month! Between helping Kate move people through the tunnels to avoid the riots and risking life & limb for Sion Astal (handwaved), he was in dire need of a break by the end of the riots. Did he get that break? Of course not! A killjoy never lacks for work. He took a warrant on behalf of Rhys of Landy Kendry to get samples of the Badlands which ended up going far south and leaving them stranded. Their savior to be was none other than Takasugi, a man he met many years ago and under a different name at Sugar Point.

Taking a desperately needed night off, he had a not!date with Kanda following that, and then headed to the summits where the killjoy team played guard to Sion Astal. For the most part, Kanda did the actual work while Lavi used the opportunity to fulfill his Bookman obligations and make a record of the events.

As of now, Lavi retains his outer appearance of a neutral killjoy and is picking his moments of intervention with great heed. That, however, will likely change in upcoming chapters as he regains more of his canon memories and begins to value his friendships as more than splashes of ink on history's paper..

Chapter Summary: Sui Feng was deployed alongside Giovanni to quell the riots with lethal force where she
slaughtered Westie rats with Fenris and had a memory glitch that made her withdraw. Leaving Giovanni in the hands of temporary handlers, she was later awoken to her unruly mutt at the hands of Kanda Yu and had a heart to heart + bone breaking with Giovanni as a result. Later, she was tasked with making social appearances at Leith's galas where she met Crowley of Land Simms.

Finally, Sui Feng attended the Peace Summits via neural implant linked with Takenaka of Land Derrish where she monitors potential targets on the Company's next hit list.

Chapter Summary: Between jobs of the resistance and the riots from the accords clusterfuck, Badou's been all over the place. Making allies and even running from a torrent of water that not even Indiana Jones had to deal with, its a wonder he got out without any gray hairs.
Not to mention he met Heine's brother. That's going great, thanks for asking. He managed to not break any of Badou's bones. Badou is absolutely going to look into that, but very carefully.
Friendships strengthened, stress mounting, normal everyday shit.

[ Assigned to both border and riot control, Hijikata has been busy. He embarked on a mission with a RAC member to detain an unregistered ship, though they were woefully under-supplied for the venture. His response to the riots contained only thinly restrained violence; he was quick to arrest or physically put down any resistance to Company order. On one such venture he was swept away with a retreating group of rebels. While he was mostly focused on maintaining anonymity within the cell until he could escape, he did witness some 'inner workings' of the resistance in Old Town. His findings were reported completely and truthfully. His other patrols went, for the most part, as expected, with the exception of throwing a fit over the new PDDs. He also joined in a 'strike' - or senseless property damage - over a 'no smoking' rule while verifying his documentation. He went back the next day and waited like a good citizen, so his papers are ratified. ]

Chapter Summary: So far so good. Heine's only almost been killed twice, currently waffling between assignments and not really needing one in having to put great effort into maintaining his life. He spent a portion of this month being a drifter and letting life happen (majorly because life has been happening too hard irl), nothing remarkable to report.

[ Upon recieving a message from Hyperion, in which he was charged with bringing the Peace Summit to a stalemate, Takasugi swiftly began to gather his resources. Before leaving Leith, he met with Alice, inviting her to the Peace Summit as a delegate. Once the detour he took on his arrival to Westerley had completed, he invited Kate as well, also securing her a position as delegate. Takasugi himself chose to attend as an entertainer, under the pseudonym 'Tani Umenosuke'. Given that all three members of Hyperion's Blossom can trace their families back to Leith, they were welcomed without suspicion. At the Summit Takasugi met with numerous delegates, keeping a keen eye out for those of a crooked persuasion. While he did not take part in formal debates, he capitalized on the time given to mingle by spreading bribes and speaking well of the wrong parties. Through this, he was able to siphon away a portion of relief funds and efforts into hands sure to squander them. His attention drifted to a few members of the Summit's third party security, though the conversations were little more than a flippant passing of the time. The night Rhys's environmental purification solution was pitched to an unsure, reluctant crowd, Takasugi took care to speak with its mastermind and assure his support of the plan. He spread word of the idea as the Summit proceeded, it's pervasive controversy leaving many delegates locked in debates over its details, rather than focusing on other solutions.

Initially only using Rhys via blackmail, Takasugi was able to introduce himself to the noble as 'Tani Umenosuke' when he rescued the stranded party from the badlands. Ferrying both Rhys and Lavi to Old Town, Takasugi recognized Lavi as a boy he'd met at Sugar Point, though neither of them indicated their mutual suspicions when they spoke. After dropping his passengers off, Takasugi observed the riots alongside Kanda, once again leaving the Killjoy unimpressed with his taste in liquor. As the dusk alight with angry voices screaming for justice faded, the Peace Summit began. ]

Chapter Summary:

Crowley partied it up on Leith at several galas as a representative of Land Simms with several other relatives. He brought Rin with him to expose him to how charity and overall help differs on Leith in comparison to Westerly but, possibly hypocritical enough, did not go to the Peace Summit. (He did give some money?? Wow. Bravo.) Also making sure that friends are aware that if they need a mercy kill he's the one to call!

Chapter Summary: In general, Hawke's main goal this chapter was to keep her head down and not get involved. She succeeded! Sort... of... One or two fights don't really count, do they? To avoid even more fights, she spent a few nights at Jack's place since duh, of course that's neutral enough, right? Sure. (It wasn't.) She also tried while very hard to find her dog who slipped out of her hold in the midst of all the Westie chaos. She didn't quite succeed at that either and while she feels sure he'll be fine, in the end all she could do was slip off to the RAC with an uneasy stomach. After that, it was a matter of the reevaluations that she tried hard to avoid, but couldn't. Her promotion stays up in the air a little, but she did end up taking out a warrant with Bucky in the midst of all this. Did they succeed? Did they fail? Also kind of up in the air but Hawke continues to try her best.

Going into chapter four, Hawke will continue to struggle with her neutrality and the responsibilities she inflicts on herself daily. Will she bail completely? Will she go whole hog? Both are as likely as each other but one thing's for certain: she really needs to find her dog.

Chapter Summary: Bucky’s generally been making friends and getting along fine. He attempted to keep riots at a minimum where he’s based in Old Town (no thread, just generally speaking) but has otherwise continued as he normally does, balancing his RAC work and Resistance work. He’s decided to offer his services to Hyperion and collaborate with his fellow cell members. For now. The individuals themselves seem fair minded to him, and he hasn't any reason to doubt either of them yet as individuals, but he is extremely wary of Hyperion's ability to have found him as an agent of the Resistance. He’s also volunteered to help Nyx prep and run his bar on the side. Helping Nyx will be a way to build stronger contacts and expand his network, ultimately a necessity for him as a killjoy, a Resistance member, and someone who relies on people, not ideas.

For the remainder of Ch 3, he will be doing RAC evals, a warrant with Hawke, and keeping a sharp eye out during the Peace Summit for insurgents of any kind from any particular faction. Generally high alert. He doesn’t trust that all civilians and Resistance members will remain respectful of the event, and if shit goes down, he needs to be careful what part he plays in what follows. (He is unaware that a Hyperion cell will actively influence the proceedings, of course.) He has a lot of thinking to do before the summit.

Chapter Summary: Worked hard at the galas and the charity drives (all the while learning how the other half lives with the help of Crowley), making an awkward fool of himself in the process, before heading to Westerley with the Good Will Corps. He kept primarily to himself other than interacting with the people involved with the Good Will Corps and the Summit, but after witnessing the wreckage on Westerley, has become quite a bit more sympathetic towards the Resistance. You could say that some of the naivety of his generally politically sheltered life has rubbed off. Witnessing both the hypocrisy of the Leithians in their attempts to aid Westerley and seeing the violence that the rioters faced has made him see things a bit differently - and his distaste for the Company only grew exponentially during this time.

Chapter Summary: Steph signed up for the Good Will Corps and went to Westerley to help out/attend the Summit, there was probably handing out food & helping rebuild or whatever was involved with the volunteering! At the Summit she yelled at some dude to not be a dick but was mostly chill.

Chapter Summary:
With the fall of the Accords, Lapis pretty much ended up devoting much of her time to assisting those caught up in the riots, though she also needed assisting herself, with her tendency to get uppity when someone badmouthed one of her friends within the Company. Along with also needing help with her sudden bursts of speed, something that both annoyed her and yet felt oddly natural, even with the crashing. And with the results of the riots, and the Company's use of lethal force on civilians, Lapis found herself growing more furious with the Nine and the Company, and so when she was contacted by Hyperion, she decided to work with them and bring a team together. Though there's still some uncertainty, especially since she worries her work with Hyperion may put the efforts of her friends in jeopardy at the Peace Summit. And of course, her attending the Peace Summit was a chance for info broker work as well, taking the opportunity to listen in on some conversations between officials and file some potentially useful information away for later.

In Chapter 3, Peter helped Neal get ready for his level 4 RAC evaluation by generally bugging him to death and trying his very damnedest to let him take point on warrants; this presumably will have variable success. Elsewhere he gave Marian Hawke an evaluation of her very own! The fall of the Accords so far is affecting him most in changes at the RAC, but he's close enough to company employee Steph Brown to let her crash on the ship during the Peace Summit.

Chapter Summary: Itsuki hit up the bar towards the end of the quarantine in ~celebration~ by getting drunk and annoying various people: see Kara, Kanda, Kim, and Heine, while also trying to flirt with Lapis (SMH!!) and then getting his ass saved by Scott. He was also bullied into letting Sion sleep over his bachelor pad... When Itsuki tries to be Hetero but Isn't tbh. During the resulting chaos after the Accords dissolved, Itsuki pretty much kept his head down as much as possible, talking to Leo and Julius and has been in Westerley dealing with the riots!! (LOOKS AT MY PLANS... i'm probably going to backtag way more stuff here aka Itsuki getting beat up and saved by various people and also throwing shit fits at various people). Then he gets involved in a shady Resistance Thing with Kara and Ignis, the former will (probably... aka definitely) convincing him to volunteer without pressuring him about his Drug Life most likely. this just reminds me of all the things I still have to do!! thank god for chapter summary

CHAPTER SUMMARY
Genji went around Leith doing some recon for the Resistance; he returned with photographs and a crude map of where the afflicted were being treated, where Company officials were patrolling, etc. He's been in and out of the Market rousing the rabble, and was fighting with his fellow Resistance members when all hell broke loose. Mostly he's been recruiting where he can (Badou, perhaps Noctis, Fenris), and doing recon/intelligence work on the side.

Nyx has been mostly struggling with his position in the Company now, thanks to their all out warfare against the locals. He's not about this life, and he's unsure of what to do next outside of continue to do his thing. Bahamut's Fury is also now his bar thanks to the owner having died during the infections. Of course, the Fury looks like crap thanks to the riots, so he's trying to hire some people and hopefully get the bar going again in more or less two weeks' time.

Chapter Summary:
Quiet, mostly, for Hanna, save for meeting Crowley at a fancy-to-do Leithian party. Chapter Summary:
Kate’s had a busy month! She started out trying to help out during the riots, which included working with Lavi to move people through the tunnels to safety. After that, she had a run in with Giovanni and was saved by Kanda. She’s also been stalking Fenris under the mistaken belief that he’s behind the whole shady Angel thing, which she’s been discussing with Leo. Kate was also assigned to Takasugi’s cell along with Alice, and he manipulated both of them into helping him sabotage the summit, which hasn’t been completely played through yet.

On more personal notes, Kate’s helping Jason with his crazy memory stuff, went on a date with Steinbeck, and has been hanging out with Nyx!

Chapter Summary:
shiro's stuck to boring company patrols along westerley! he definitely didn't use a company patrol vehicle to help an rac agent with a level 1 warrant or anything. and then the riots happened, and the company needed as many meat shields as they could get. so shiro got thrown into the fray, and with the help and good influence of some self-sacrificing idiot, he was able to help pull company lines back just far enough to avoid a massacre. he's still pretty surprised it worked, considering his piss-poor influence these days.

nevertheless, he goes right back to patrolling after that. which sucks considering he's wearing company armor and the riots are beginning to move into his area. thankfully his sedan doesn't look like much and doesn't attract attention... but yeah, riots. violence. it would suck if someone tried to break into his flat or something.

Chapter Summary:
Kanda's had a crazy month. Between fighting in riots with several people, saving Kate from a rabid Giovanni and then kidnapping a doge for his own good before spending a week guarding Sion at the summit, he's been all over the place.

He's not quite willing to leave that neutral stance yet, however his hate for the Nine and the Company, as well as the violence that followed the accord revocation combined with his growing bonds with people like Lapis, Lavi, Kara, Sion and even Giovanni! are opening a path for him to step off the fence. Throw someone like Takasugi in, with the way he challenges Kanda's control, and he's steadily trending towards helping the resistance.

Chapter Summary: Juvia, primarily, spent the month being a Good Enforcer and putting in an absurd amount of hours to fund her rather average lifestyle. Outside of that, she's visited sick coworkers and had some tearful(ly questionable) goodbyes. After that, Juvia worked most, if not all, of the riots to quell her own fears about the safety of her town and family who lives right in it, resulting in some beatings and an absurd level of arrests on her behalf.

Chapter Summary: With continued cognitive weirdness going on in the aftermath of the epidemic, Jason has been starting to nose in on the memory mechanics in play by looking up Black Clinics and checking out mods similar to the kind that kept him kicking a few years back. (Close, but maybe not quite the right direction to be looking in. You gotta start somewhere.) In the meantime, after weathering the riots, he was lucky (?!!) enough to get to conduct Lavi's RAC eval. After surviving this, he gets himself recruited by Hyperion's shady ass via Lapis. Despite being suspect as hell about this turn of events, he'll agree far enough to get a better in on what's going on and figure out what he wants to do about Hyperion from there—and maybe hurt some people who deserve hurting in the process. Playing along definitely doesn't mean trust—Hyperion's way too well funded and connected to have come out of nowhere. Time to add digging for info about his new "employer" to his list of new hobbies, once they're done blowing some stuff up.

Chapter Summary: Fenris was primarily concerned with the riots in this Chapter; he stayed on Westerley for the duration and carried out the Company's directives to re-establish order by whatever means necessary. Unfortunately, that involved killing more than one rioting Westerlyn. A number of folks intervened: Kate, who also seemed to be following him for some reason; Juvia, whom he did not treat very kindly; Genji, who put a badass sword to his neck; Hawke, who's probably going to punch him; Giovanni, who did not so much intervene as assist; and Sui Feng, who ultimately ordered him to withdraw. He also had a drink with Nyx and grumbled about the new network devices with (at, really) Vaughn.

Some time prior to these events, he also carried out a mission with Hawke and--prior even to that--he acted as Jack's less than friendly nurse.

Throughout these experiences, Fenris has suffered from troubling hallucinations. He hears, sees, and even says things he doesn't understand. This stress, combined with his actions at the riots, is taking a toll.

After the epidemic on Leith, Alice decides to make the lives of children that have been orphaned for the better and starts to project herself into Leithian society, finally, after six months, determined to prove herself as an heiress. She finally stands up to her family's lawyer, after he protests Alice using her inheritance to help facilitate a starting point. Known pretty to be a near hermit no thanks to her reputation and trauma, Alice stumbles into galas and the Peace Summit unsure how to handle herself. At the gala, Alice finds a like-minded Julius. Alice then moved on to the Peace Summit, overseeing donations specificially for children and arranged for her own means of transportation and distribution of the donations she collected.

Takasugi manages to coax Alice onto a Hyperion mission, despite her fears to return to Westerly. Another big starting point for Alice as she slowly starts to become more active to soothe the suffering of orphaned children.
