Your friend would want to hightail it out of there pronto and have an escape route ready to go somewhere .. like say... underground. They'd have a very short window before they got themselves a seat beside the other executions for high treason, and a pending investigation on their head, but if they did well to cover their tracks, your friend could probably evade the hand of the law.
