john steinbeck being REALLY good at pickup lines. png

HELLO HELLO ALL I'm Crystal and I'm bringing in John Steinbeck from Bungou Stray Dogs. Yes, that's his name. Yes, he's based off the actual John Steinbeck, literary figure extraordinaire, because all the main characters from his canon are named and inspired by famous literary authors. All said characters also have powers relating to the works of their namesakes. It's basically Anime Authors Fight Club (Superpowered Edition).

John Steinbeck here is actually kind of a vaguely evil rip-off of Tom Joad from The Grapes of Wrath, and spends his time cheerfully hanging out with morally grey people (including Cthulhu), talking about how much he loves his family, eating raw potatoes, and also wishing he could kill capitalism 24/7. In canon, he was basically a mercenary with the ability to, uh, grow grape seeds out of his own body and control plants with them. Trust me, it's as gross as it sounds.

In the game though, he's a Scarback monk who harbors revolutionary desires to tear down the Company which has made his family back in Westerley suffer as much as they have. On the surface, he's a very cheerful and easygoing guy who likes spreading the word of his faith, but in reality he's a pretty ruthless and cruel man who won't hesitate to hurt or kill others to get what he wants. He also has this weird obsession of becoming one with the Mother Tree of his faith, and therefore thinks growing plants out of his body is a great use of his time.

Here's his app (super long, I'm sorry) for those interested! I'm super open to having established CR, just hit me up here in this post, in a PM, or PP me over at my plurk, [plurk.com profile] vampirize! I'm super excited to get to know you all!

I'm never good at these. Anyway! I'm Natalie and I'll be bringing Alice Liddell from the American McGee's Alice franchise, specifically the end of "Madness Returns". For those who may be unfamiliar, it's an unofficial sequel of the Lewis Carroll books and delves into an older Alice's battle with trauma and finding the truth about her family. She looks super cute here in this gif, but Alice has a pretty rough past and, in turn, makes her a bit hardened and mistrusting of people. She's pretty nonchalant about dark things and is more hardy than she gives herself credit for. This small lady will also mess you up if you give her a reason to with her vorpal blade. Alice still hasn't lost her flair for Wonderland and curiosity! There is that.

Her AU background here is almost the same as it is in games, with the exception of the main antagonist in "Madness Returns" -- won't say more because I dunno if that'll spoil anyone.  Here in game, she is a Leithian with blood of the nine and the only survivor of a very wealthy family who was killed by a Westie that was obsessed with her older sister. Poor Alice was shipped over to a Westerly asylum by her family's greedy lawyer and Alice was able to leave that asylum six months ago. For the past six months, poor Alice has been trying to get back on her feet and make her family proud like any good Leithian heiress would! Except... being held in asylum for ten years (especially in Westerly) has left  her pretty traumatized but also really socially stunted. So, social things are not Alice's forte and Alice is trying to start her own business to care for children that have faced similar, traumatic circumstances. But she can be very nice and caring once she forges a bond! It just... may be like pulling teeth to break through her shell.

That being said, I am very much open to any pre-arranged CR, both positive and negative!! If you want to know her or want to be her friend, I am down.

You are totally welcome to hit me up at [plurk.com profile] adarkfuneral , anephilimrising (AIM), and #9201 adarkfuneral on Discord. So I'm a bit of a metal head. My tagging speed varies -- I do some overtime at work because things happen out of my hands and I want to ensure things go well before I leave. I tag more during the weekend nights when I'm not working on art.
