Opening Event Plotting Meme!
Today is the day!
The Quad welcomes you, so time to let you all loose to wreak bloody havoc upon the unsuspecting masses.
Chapter 1 Event Log is up for your review, with each of the faction prompts set as a top-level. Please feel free to post threads either under each top-level or create your own logs for the event - whichever works best for you.
To help you get started, here are some potential quick notes for things you could do with these prompts--but feel free to expand or come up with something entirely on your own!
Prompt Notes
The Nine
The Company
Leithians
True Leithians
Westies
Those caught in space or elsewhere in the Quad cannot access Old Town until the storms subside - any attempts to approach even the outer edges of the stormfront will result in significant damage to the vessel, either through electrical interference or chemical damages to the outer hull.
But for those whose dealings are less than legal, now is a time of profit. Some want to sell (or bet against) claimant papers in Eulogy. Others just want to find a buyer to get the things out of their hands. Either way comes at a great cost - especially if a Killjoy or Enforcer gets to you first.
For the Westie natives, however, there's another problem. Someone tried to steal your meal ticket off this toxic moon. Maybe you should think on getting it back...or do you trust the system to do the work for you?
Resistance
The RAC
Level | Prompt |
1 | Recover stolen claimant papers. Intel may indicate Eulogy. |
2 | Transporting people through the Black Rains via the undercity. |
3 | Individuals caught forging their genetic identity to circumvent their visas on Leith will have automatic live arrest warrants. |
4 | Members of nationalist group suspected of planning the attack on the FRB. Hunt down leaders responsible and return to the Company. This is a live or dead warrant. |
Major Plot Points
Black Warrant
Should the result of player plotting be that the black warrant is completed, the team responsible will be decided via RNG.
Fate of the Heir
The fate of the heir will have significant effects on the unfolding story. For transparency's sake, please review each result below before beginning your planning:
Scenario: Success |
Land Derrish will reward the individuals responsible for returning its heir with a hefty sum of joy and docking privileges on their private lands in Qresh. The organization those individuals belong to will in turn see a blind eye turned to their more illicit affairs for a while and a few political favors thrown their way, tipping the balance of power ever so slightly. |
Scenario: Failure |
The Resistance. Westerlerns will take the fall for her poisoning, the results of which will be a brutal increase in security measures and moon-wide totalitarian rule. Travel to and from Westerley will become extremely limited as the Nine seek out members of the Resistance. Neighbors will turn on neighbors and anyone with known Resistance leanings will be forced to go deep underground. |
We encourage everyone to engage in cooperative OOC plotting to come to a consensus on what exactly the outcome will be. While we understand that every character involved in this plot will have their own agenda, we wish to foster an environment in Overjoyed where players can all plot together to reach developments that are satisfying to everyone - whether their characters 'win' or 'lose'.
The mods will keep an eye on the pace of the plotting on the meme, and once it slows significantly, or after 5 days - whichever comes first - a post will be made for all players to respond with their desired outcomes. In this case, majority rules, so it benefits everyone to cooperate and compromise rather than try to approach things independently.
Doing things this way is very much a trial, and we will be open to feedback and change should this method prove too difficult, too frustrating, or ineffective.

Location: westerley, mainly!
Primary Faction Goals: Secondary Faction Goals: nnnnone yet.
Desired CR: killjoys with whom he's worked before who'll never let him work with them again! citizens he ran into on the street and offended somehow! anyone who can patch him up, or has before! people who own nice machinery and are not opposed to keith periodically breaking in and coopting it / bringing it fancy upgrades without really knowing how to install them! please don't make someone this angry ride public transport!
look, we've about a year's worth of leeway to work with, and i am indescribably into ridiculous backstories about that time one of the nine's rich knock-offs put out a warrant for their ex during a nasty split, who walked off with their beloved dog, which turned out to have three heads and a terrible unwillingness to go back home. yes, i forgot to comment to the brainstorming meme in time. yes, i'm happy to invent options for your amusement if you tell me about your character and give me a random word prompt.
Anything else? . . . i'm literally not going to be around for more than an hour a day for the next week, ssstarting tomorrow. things will move faster after that! just. yes. sad turtle backdaters, i'm here for you.

and would keith actually know where he lived, because he'd show up to yell about THE RIGHT THING!!1 whether he liked koon or not.
no subject
UH HE WOULD ACTUALLY even if it was to make keith's life miserable, on top of reccing him to other agents. i'm sorry he's an individual motivated by spite more than anything else, especially since keith wouldn't be a bad agent?? just a.... hot headed one
LMAO KOON LIVES IN SOME SHITTY APARTMENT IN WESTERLEY ACTUALLY so if you wanted to make this a thing / if keith had koon's number (??? is that a thing) so i absolutely welcome harrassment 8)
no subject
and yeah, okay. keith just barges in like CHECK THE WARRANT LIST and koon's like, well, some of us sleep. hope koon wasn't trying to establish good relationships with his neighbors. : (b
no subject
his neighbors are actually jason todd and lancer rn so i mean this is a disaster in the making, our little corner of killjoy sitcom cr while everything burns around them. ( but yeah some of us do sleep pls leave ty )

Also Midori owns like. More guns than most gun dealers. You could probably hold off a small army with what's in his apartment... Idk if that's tech Keith gets involved with though, not really circuits and wires type stuff.
no subject
WELL, keith's basically only into the tech that lets him go fast, but let's be fair, they're not called killjoys because they're pacifists. how open is midori about his cache? because keith is not rich, he'd probably just. show up to stock up if he got desperate enough later.
no subject
And HMMM Midori doesn't really talk about himself, but he's doubtless had coworkers over before and word has gotten around. He wouldn't mind Keith bumming at all. That said if Keith follows the "spray and pray" tactic of gunfire and wastes all Midori's ammo Midori will make Keith take remedial lessons with him........
no subject
anyway, please try not to traumatise poor keith too much

in conclusion: i miss playing a character who'd flirt with riza, why do you insist on playing only in games where i can't flirt shamefully with your characters.

would you like to partner up for the World's Worst Decisions group, rookie
no subject
but that stranger's lancer, and you don't get much worse than e-rank luck. ):
because the main reason he'd want a level 4 with him on a level 1 mission's because he's hoping to collect a swathe at once, and he needs someone to authorise him to use force.
no subject
and he would absolutely advocate busting some heads!!! 8) i'm about 20 years behind the times and canonblind to voltron but unless keith's one lucky sob this is bound to go really, really poorly and i'm excited about it
no subject
but god, i'm excited, keith's luck is so terrible and he will be of exactly 0% help to ameliorate lancer's awful life decisions. someone needs to app baby sakura from trc to balance lancer out with all these other shits.
in the meantime! what's your style on these things -- do you like to hash out the general chain of events and then play the actiony bits, or do you just start at some designated point and roll from there to see what comes up, time-skipping as needed?

koon's player informs me we're going to have killjoy sitcom living situations, break into his place thinking it's koon's and get a gun pointed in your face instead or smth, what can possibly go wrong
no subject
i'm pretty flexible on the hunt's details still! did you have any incidents in particular that you wanted to throw into the mix? i keep having a motley assortment of Thoughts, so in no particular order:
- try to buy a lead off the local infobrokers. unfortunately, keith's permanently broke and i don't see jason "my face is half-bandage at this point" todd having an ingratiating face. ): ~sketchy payment methods ensue~ (read: they both manfully resist the urge to dangle someone off a building).
- stealth undercover stakeout at a bar the leaders have allegedly taken to frequenting, trying not to act suspicious while figuring out how to avoid small talk while minimisinge their tab for alcohol that they can't expense.
- find out that their best chance for a lead is, in fact, due to get staked out for the black rain that day. go quarrel with the responsible enforcer about it.
- rooftop chases while they're still trying to figure out who leads and who has to go through the alleyway reeking of rotting fish to cut off a target.
- crash the plans of whomever else is hunting the leaders??
i'm not married to any of the above, though! and i just realised i've typed. . . a lot of words. . . let me know if you've plans yourself, or if you'd rather play it fast and loose.
no subject
I'm 100% in support of this and the above trainwreck. you have my sword, lets make it happen. I was incapable of Actual Thought this weekend, so I have very little nailed down just yet BUT all of these sound like a riot, bless u.
as a whole I usually play fast and loose in threads anyway SO unless you've got a preference I'll pick one of the above at random and bs us a starter* from it if you'd like (ง •̀_•́)ง ngl I'm leaning toward stakeouts (with bonus rooftop chases why not both) or sketchy payment options. (lbr he wouldn't actually resist very long, dangling people off of buildings is a perfectly acceptable way to do business. watch and learn keith.)
*breaking and entering assumed if not threaded, whichever works better 4 u
no subject
- we can assume the breaking-and-entering or thread it, depending on how fast you wanna get to the rest!
- but mostly: awkward stakeout featuring two pseudovigilantes who both hate smalltalk, devolving devolves into a rooftop chase, a++. let's do it.
- i will play anything, but (as you can. . . probably tell. . .) i probably won't get to tags before friday. it's a weird-ass week, but i'm v. happy to start if you don't mind waiting a little!
- if we're going with the sketchy payment option, i've just spotted that we have an infobroker now, do you wanna ask her about dangling or shall i.
- how many true leithan leaders are there? i was assuming they were on westerley because of the attack, but i can't tell if that overlaps with this.
in conclusion: ♥! i apologise in advance, both in the event that this turns out to be a trainwreck and also in the event that it doesn't.
